When you work out, you do so because you feel as though you need to improve certain parts of your fitness. You cannot improve if you’re constantly impeding your body when it’s trying to heal itself. You probably know this already, but lots of people get into the zone of training and barely get out of it due to the fixation. Don’t Go And Train Because You Feel Like You Must
We touched on this slightly, but it should have its own heading. When you’re bang in the groove and you feel like you can do everything, it can be tempting to not have rest days. You have all the energy in the world and you’d like to hit your PB. You’ll work really hard and obsessively attack the weight you want to lift. As counterintuitive as it sounds, rest days will make you bigger and stronger and fitter. They just will. Constantly pushing your body is not the way to go about things.
Eat Enough And Drink Lots Of Water
When it comes to eating on rest days, you’ll want to make sure you’re still keeping your belly full and satisfying your hunger. You won’t be exerting as much energy, so you don’t have to eat as much, but be sure to get a solid amount of carbs, protein, and fats into you!
Relax As Much As You Can
You need your body to recuperate, so that means literally resting and enjoying the day without strenuous exercise. Keep Your Mind Away From It All
If you’re continually thinking about training and what to do at the gym, it can sometimes put you off of training. If you’re obsessed and will never wander away from it, then that’s fine, but some people might overload and become bored of it. Find something else to do if you don’t already have an ulterior hobby. When you think about something too much, the obsession can be a good thing – over time, however, it can make you dislike what you once loved. Be careful.
