Extend the life of your car with these tips

Looking after our cars is, of course, an excellent investment in time and energy. We use our cars so frequently, for work, and pleasure, and even just running to the shops at the last minute. And even though we do our best, sometimes we add extra strain to our cars and don’t look after them as well as we could. If you’re looking for ideas on how to extend the overall lifespan of your vehicle, then you’ve come to the right place. Here are some ideas that you can follow to ensure that you don’t end up having to pay for more repairs are necessary.

Servicing

We all know that service in our car once a year is the standard way to keep it running smoothly. But it extends far beyond that, and it isn’t just about keeping your engine well oiled, it also helps you stay safe. A full MOT, of course, will make sure that your car is safe for the road, however, you also need to consider that oil, brake pads, and other perishable items on the vehicle, can break down over time quickly. Leaving it just once a year is asking for trouble. Regularly check your tires, oil and water levels so that you don’t get a surprise the next time you book your car into the garage.

Bodywork

Whether you have an old Ford Fiesta or the New Jaguar F-PACE you will want to consider taking good care of the body on your car. Rust can set in quickly, and if you aren’t careful, it could cost you a lot of money to fix. Washing your car regularly isn’t necessarily just about keeping it clean and looking nice. It’s the dirt and oil that gets onto the exterior of the car, that will erode over time. Especially if you live in an area that is close to the seaside, or has high pollution levels. This is one that you won’t be able to take back once it starts, and even though it’s a gradual process, selling a car that has rust spots on it is never easy. So take care of the interior and exterior of your car and you shouldn’t have to worry about repair costs.

Fuel

Some may argue that it doesn’t matter what type of fuel you choose for your car. However it’s 2019 and with the options we have available it surely makes a difference. Of course there is the electric versus gas debate, but also when choosing a petrol car there are higher quality options that help the engine of your car runs smoothly. It is depending on experience, and everyone has a different opinion, but you do tend to get what you pay for in life. So paying that little bit extra for a higher quality fuel may be worth your while.

Ultimately you should enjoy driving your car, and taking care of it should be a chore you don’t mind when you know what’s at stake. If you spot anything wrong with your car, it’s always a good idea to get it checked immediately. The longer something goes wrong on a vehicle, the more damage it causes.
