3 ways to increase your fitness levels without going to the gym

Aah, the gym. Whilst we’d all like to confess that we attended that morning class at 7am, it rarely happens. We wish it would, ok? But staying motivated when it comes to fitness can be one of the hardest things to do, particularly when it comes to going to the gym. Luckily, we’re going to tell you how you can increase your fitness without spending every single hour of your life there, because we understand that you have other things to do. Say goodbye to shared equipment that doesn’t smell too fresh, and hello to easier ways to increase your fitness.

Get a sport-related hobby

When it comes to gym equipment, you may have a weird feeling about the mundane nature of it all. Who wants to jog on the spot on a treadmill and look at a wall whilst they’re doing it? We can’t think of anything less appealing, but there are sports out there that can be fun (we promise). Why not take up some kind of martial art, like karate or boxing? You’ll really look forward to it, you’ll meet a lot of new people, and you’ll gain a lifetime skill, too. This is much better than the gym, we think, so say goodbye to the treadmill! Quit smoking and drink less

You may not know it, but your drinking and smoking will be bringing your fitness levels right down. If you’re a smoker, you’ve probably realised that you struggle to breathe when you’re halfway up a flight of stairs, which is never a good sign when it comes to your health. Over-drinking can also put stress on your body, so why not help yourself out by cutting down the pints and giving the cigarettes a miss?
