5 steps to the perfect summer BBQ

As I’m writing this post I’m looking out of the window to dark clouds and anything but nice weather, but believe it or not summer is well and truly underway. The summer months can be a bit hit and miss in this country, we seem to get a few warm days which are then replaced by a month’s worth of rain! (Well that’s what it feels like anyway) But because of this us Brits make the most of the precious sunshine we do get.

With people jetting off on their summer holidays, beer gardens becoming even more popular and BBQ’s in full swing, I thought I would share some ideas on how to create the perfect summer BBQ.

As we all know, the weather can be very unpredictable so have a back-up plan in case the weather takes a turn for the worse. A gazebo would be the safest bet as this way you can ensure your guests and the ground remains dry, therefor saving your garden from looking like the fields of Glastonbury.

The typical go to food for a BBQ are burgers and sausages but why not plan in advance and have ago at a few summer BBQ recipes? Chicken skewers, potato salads, stuffed peppers, the list goes on. Mixing up your BBQ food selection is definitely a way to impress your guests and after all, the food is what their coming for.

What entertainment you choose is going to be an important factor in hosting the perfect summer BBQ. Music is a must and will play a big part in the atmosphere at your party. There are so many summer playlists on Spotify or you could even create your own, if you and your guests like the same type of music

Once the food has been consumed and the night is in full swing, this is the perfect time to bring out a game or two. For me, it would have to be beer pong unless some of your guests aren’t drinking alcohol.

The majority of people attending social events like to take their own drink but it’s best to be stocked up just in case. Apart from the obvious alcoholic and soft drinks, it’s a good idea to make a few pitchers of your choice in advance. If the sun was shining then my personal preference would be Sangria or Pimm’s – the perfect summer refreshments.

As we all know, summer doesn’t last very long in the UK so enjoy it while it lasts.
