It’s been 3 months since I published my first blog post and since then I have been trying to post at least once a week but sometimes it can be hard. I feel like I’m getting into the swing of blogging now and when I look back at my first post I definitely think my posts are getting better and better, but at the same time I am still very new to this and there are so many things I can improve on.
I started my blog as I work in digital marketing and I communicate with bloggers on a daily basis so I wanted to be part of the blogging community, mainly so I could understand all aspects of what blogging really is about. I like to look through other blogs as I get inspiration, whether it be the design of the blog, blog post ideas but mainly to see what other people get up to. I look at some of the opportunities bloggers are offered and eventually, I would like to be in that position.
As I have previously mentioned I do try to post at least once a week but I don’t always get the time as I work 9-5 and blogging isn’t always my top priority when I get home or on the weekend, but I need to start spending an hour or two a week planning and writing my next posts.
I won’t lie, I would love my blog to be at the standard where brands and PR agencies approach me to see if I would be interested in collaborating with them but I know I’m not at that stage yet, after all I’ve only had my blog a few months and I know it takes time and hard work. I have been thinking of where I want to go with my blog and what I want to do next, at the moment I’m trying to make regular posts in the hope that my DA will increase come the next update.
Once I have seen an increase in my DA I then want to buy a theme as I am currently using one of WordPress’ free theme’s. I didn’t want to jump the gun and buy one straight away as I may slowly stop blogging as time goes on, although I’m confident I won’t. One thing I really think makes a good blog stand out is the images that accompany the blog post. The images on my blog have been taken on my iPhone but I know to capture high quality images I need a good camera, so that would be something I would look into buying, but I would have to do some research first as I’m not exactly clued up on good cameras.
As well as having a good camera to take the images, some need to be edited, and as I am finding at the moment a good PC is needed. I’m not saying that I would have to have an Apple Mac as there are other good PC’s and laptops you can get but I have always wanted one, so I would rather save for a little longer and get what I really want. To edit my images I’m currently using Canva which is free but you can only do so much with it so I would look into buying PhotoShop as I am familiar with this package.
Currently I’m just focusing on making regular posts and increasing my DA and although everything I have mentioned are things I would like to do, it won’t be for a while yet, I’m taking things step by step. I do want to improve my blog and I would really appreciate any advice and tips to may have so please do let me know.
