Birthday Meal – The Montgomery

As it was my birthday on Monday, me and some of my family went for a meal at The Montgomery in Eastham, we have tried to book a table for a while now and we never seem to able to get one so I booked this quite a while back. The Montgomery is a gastro pub & kitchen located in Eastham village and is becoming a very popular place to eat.

Usually when I go out for a meal I just have a main and a dessert but as it was my birthday (and I wasn’t paying!) I decided to have a starter as well. I opted for the potato skins which I shared with my girlfriend, they weren’t what I expected to be honest but they were very nice. They had a sort of fried bread crumb coating on them which was unusual but it worked. They were served with sour cream, tomato salsa and yoghurt with spices mixed into it, which was amazing!

Whenever I eat out I always have a burger so really I wanted something different but I have been told that their burgers are good so I decided to stick to what I like. I ordered the house burger and I was glad! It was served on a mixed herb bun and served with salad and home made chips which were really tasty.

The main reason I wanted to go to The Montgomery for my birthday meal is because I have seen pictures of a dessert they do called “the pudding plank”, it is the most expensive dessert on the menu and is packed with calories but it is worth it! Sticky toffee pudding, apple pie, lemon cheesecake, chocolate mousse, chocolate brownie and chantilly cream, all on one plank. It was my idea of heaven!
